This fund aims to fulfill its investment goals primarily by directing its assets into a mix of affiliated Schwab Funds and Laudus Funds. It also retains the discretion to invest in mutual funds offered by unrelated, third-party companies. These various investments – including Schwab Funds, Laudus Funds, and other external funds – are collectively known as 'underlying funds.'
