TL;DR
  • Cashu Research rates Golden Cross Resources BUY with a US$1.04 12-month target versus a reported US$0.56 price.
  • The investment case depends on Q4 2025 Reedy Creek drilling beside Southern Cross Gold’s Sunday Creek discovery.
  • Cashu Research identifies substantial downside if drilling fails, alongside dilution, benchmark and financing risks.
Golden Cross Resources is being presented by Cashu Research as a concentrated speculation on one question: can its Reedy Creek project, next to Southern Cross Gold’s Sunday Creek discovery in Victoria, deliver a discovery strong enough to transform the company’s valuation? The answer is expected to begin with drilling rather than production, revenue or mine development.
Cashu Research rates Golden Cross Resources BUY, with a US$1.04 price target against a reported current price of US$0.56 and an indicated 86% upside over a 12-month horizon. That is the research house’s view, not a Cashu Finance recommendation. The report describes the risk profile as high.

A single-asset exploration vehicle

The report describes Golden Cross as a junior mineral exploration company that has been reshaped from a dormant, debt-laden shell into a focused vehicle for the Reedy Creek gold project. Rather than building a diversified portfolio or developing a long-life mine, the company’s stated strategy is to generate a discovery, crystallise value and potentially position the asset for acquisition by a larger gold producer.
That structure creates direct exposure to drilling success, but it also makes the investment case unusually binary. Golden Cross has no revenues and its valuation is tied to the outcome of its exploration program. The first Reedy Creek drill results, expected in Q4 2025, are identified as the key near-term catalyst.
Cashu Research points to a fresh C$7M treasury and approximately US$4.9M in cash in its executive summary, with funds allocated to the drill program. The company’s clean balance sheet, lean corporate structure and single-asset focus are presented as advantages because more of its capital can be directed toward exploration.

The Sunday Creek connection drives the upside case

Reedy Creek is adjacent and contiguous to Southern Cross Gold’s Sunday Creek discovery in Victoria’s gold-rich Lachlan Fold Belt. That geological proximity is the centre of Golden Cross’s investment narrative: if drilling produces intercepts comparable to Sunday Creek, the market could reassess Golden Cross from a prospect into a discovery-stage company.
The company also has a transaction-oriented management structure. Cashu Research highlights directors with previous junior-exit experience and a technical team led by Alan Till, described in the report as a veteran geologist with more than 17 years of discovery experience. Insiders and close associates own approximately 33% of the company, which the report views as strong alignment between management and shareholders.
There has already been speculative momentum. The report says the share price rose 133% over the previous 12 months, moving from approximately US$0.24 to a 52-week high of US$0.72 before consolidating around US$0.56 as investors awaited drilling news.

What the US$1.04 target assumes

Cashu Research’s valuation is a bull-case scenario built around a discovery hole in the initial Reedy Creek program, with results comparable to Southern Cross Gold’s Sunday Creek project. The assumptions include validation of the geological model, a rapid market re-rating and the ability to raise follow-on capital on less-dilutive terms.
The methodology is a peer-based enterprise-value comparison. The report anchors the bull case on approximately US$60M of enterprise value, referencing North American junior explorers such as Scottie Resources. Adding approximately US$5M of net cash produces an implied equity value of about US$65M. Using an estimated pro-forma diluted share count of approximately 62.5M leads to the US$1.04 per-share target.
That calculation is highly sensitive to financing and exploration outcomes. Cashu Research says a large financing could reduce the target by 15–25%, while weaker peer multiples would also lower the valuation. Most importantly, the report says only a world-class discovery hole can support the bull-case value.

The risks are as significant as the potential reward

The strongest risk is the binary nature of the first drill program. A successful result could produce a sharp re-rating, but failure could remove the approximately US$36–37M exploration premium identified by the report and push the stock toward cash value, implying more than 80% downside. The report’s conclusion gives a cash-value scenario of US$0.07 per share.
Southern Cross Gold is both a strategic advantage and a difficult benchmark. Cashu Research refers to Southern Cross’s approximately US$1.2–1.3B valuation and spectacular drilling results, warning that even solid Golden Cross results could look disappointing by comparison. The report also says negative developments at the neighbour, weaker drilling or geological differences could affect Golden Cross disproportionately.
Funding is another central risk. The report says the current approximately US$5M treasury is expected to fund drilling through mid-2026, after which additional capital will be required. If results do not support a higher valuation, future financings could be highly dilutive. Golden Cross also competes with better-funded producers and other junior explorers for capital, talent and market attention.

What would change the view

The investment case would strengthen if Reedy Creek delivers discovery-grade intercepts comparable to Sunday Creek, validates the close-ology thesis and allows Golden Cross to raise capital without heavy dilution. An expanded program using a second rig, together with work on prospects such as Shepherd’s Hill, is described as providing further discovery potential.
Conversely, a disappointing initial program, geological separation from Sunday Creek or a financing required at unattractive terms would challenge the report’s assumptions. Investors are therefore being asked to assess a discovery proposition, not an operating company with established production or cash flow.
