TL;DR
- Cashu Research rates Arrow Exploration BUY with a C$1.03 target versus C$0.72 on 12 October 2026, implying 43.1% upside.
- Q2 2026 revenue reached USD 39.10m and adjusted EBITDA USD 25.16m, while normalised TTM EBITDA was CAD 74.9m.
- Icaco growth and Thorsby support the upside case, but Tapir tenure, drilling outcomes and C$8.7m of decommissioning liabilities remain key risks.
Cashu Research rates Arrow Exploration Corp. (TSXV: AXL) BUY with a C$1.03 target price. At a share price of C$0.72 on 12 October 2026, the target implies +43.1% upside through 14 October 2027. The investment case combines strong recent earnings, production growth at Icaco and the diversification offered by Thorsby, while the main risks are contract tenure, drilling execution and the cash obligations attached to the acquisition.
The re-rating case starts with earnings
Arrow trades at 2.2x EV/EBITDA on normalised earnings, below PetroTal Corp. at 2.7x. The note describes the company’s relative value as strongest on operating earnings rather than book value: investors are paying 2.1x price-to-book, making sustained profitability central to any re-rating. Net cash at 30 June 2026 provides balance-sheet support, with Net Debt/EBITDA at -0.5x.
Recent financial performance gives that valuation argument substance. Revenue from oil and natural gas was USD 39.10m in Q2 2026, compared with USD 17.95m in Q2 2025. Adjusted EBITDA, on the issuer-adjusted basis, rose to USD 25.16m from USD 6.27m over the same comparison. Consolidated net income for H1 2026 was USD 15.58m, against USD 1.73m in H1 2025. H1 2026 capex was USD 17.24m, reduced by 34.1% year on year.
The normalised trailing figures are also substantial: TTM free cash flow is listed at CAD 25.3m, TTM EBITDA at CAD 74.9m, NPAT at CAD 23.7m and EBITDA margin at 58.4%. However, the report explicitly separates normalisation from proof of recurring earnings. That distinction matters because the re-rating depends on Arrow sustaining the earnings profile rather than simply benefiting from a strong reporting period.
Production and Thorsby provide the upside path
The operating catalyst is Icaco delivery. The 17 September 2026 update showed production above 6,000 boe/d, while a proposed five-well phase offers a trackable development step. Management has identified 22 further drilling locations, giving the asset a route to additional growth if drilling results support the programme. The note also points to water disposal at IC-6 as a potential margin lever through lower operating costs.
Thorsby broadens the portfolio into Canada. Arrow holds a 100% working interest, adding 9,501 net acres in Alberta. The mid-year 2026 reserves update, effective 15 August 2026, included Thorsby and showed 1P reserves of 11.4 MMboe, up 110%, and 2P reserves of 21.4 MMboe, up 82%. The after-tax NPV10 is USD 255.8m. At acquisition, Thorsby was associated with approximately 550 boe/d of production and the transaction price was C$12.15m, funded with cash.
That acquisition is therefore both a growth option and a balance-sheet test. The identified drilling inventory could create development value, but the company must preserve liquidity after the cash payment and the assumed C$8.7m of decommissioning liabilities. The note highlights approximately C$2.0m of asset-level operating income in the 12 months before acquisition as a partial mitigating factor.
The discount comes with specific execution risks
Tapir tenure is the clearest reserve-realisation risk. The contract runs to February 2028, and the 2P reserve case assumes an extension beyond that date. Formal assignment also requires Ecopetrol’s consent. If the extension or assignment does not progress, the reserve base and the earnings case would be affected.
Execution risk is not theoretical. IC-6’s premature termination was disclosed on 4 September 2026. Management’s mitigation is to make five further Icaco wells contingent on results, but that approach also means the production-growth path is dependent on drilling outcomes. Investors must therefore distinguish between identified locations and delivered production.
Credit metrics call for measured conviction. The Altman Z-Score is 2.63, which the report places in the elevated insolvency-risk range, even though net debt is negative on the normalised measure. The industry comparison also includes an unusual payable-days figure of 330 days versus a 79-day peer median. The note flags the deviation as potentially driven by a measurement artifact with an unresolved cause, so it should not be treated as durable supplier funding.
What would change the view
The positive case is most likely to strengthen if Arrow sustains production above 6,000 boe/d, delivers the proposed Icaco drilling phase and demonstrates that water disposal can improve operating economics. Thorsby would add further support if its production and drilling options expand the reserve and earnings base without eroding post-acquisition liquidity. Conversely, a failure to extend Tapir, weaker drilling results, or heavier-than-expected decommissioning and development demands would challenge the valuation case.
The note’s market signals are supportive but not decisive. Arrow’s Sentiment Index is 70.04%, classified as Extremely Bullish, while its Valuation Index is 26.8%, classified as Undervalued, and its Target Index is 67.6%, classified as an Extremely Attractive Target. The analysis treats the discount and order flow as support for an entry case, not as a takeover-dependent thesis. For the stated target to become credible in the report’s terms, operational delivery and balance-sheet flexibility must develop alongside the headline earnings growth.
