Stratasys Expands Digital Denture Solutions in Europe with CE Mark Approval
Stratasys, a leader in additive manufacturing, announces the availability of its TrueDent-D™ resin in Europe, now recognized as a CE Mark Class I medical device. This certification allows the company to distribute its innovative TrueDent™ monolithic multi-shade digital denture solution in countries that require CE marking. Following a successful launch in the United States earlier in 2023, Stratasys aims to improve the efficiency and quality of denture production for dental labs and clinicians across Europe, responding to a growing market demand. The company’s strategic entry into the European market is well-timed, as projections indicate the demand for dentures in the region will rise from USD 2.19 billion in 2023 to USD 2.45 billion by 2028, according to iData.
TrueDent revolutionizes the denture manufacturing process with its fully digital workflow, allowing dental labs to produce customized dentures at dramatically lower costs—estimated at less than half of traditional methods. The Stratasys J5 DentaJet™ printer enhances production capabilities, capable of manufacturing over 30 full monolithic, multi-shade dentures in a single print job. A key differentiator of the TrueDent solution is its unique ability to print duplicate dentures at the touch of a button, providing dental professionals with quick access to backups for patients. This innovation not only streamlines operations but also enables dental labs to explore new business models without incurring additional costs or labor, thereby maximizing productivity.
The impact of TrueDent on dental practices is profound. Tra’ Chambers, owner of Express Dental Laboratories, emphasizes the transformation in their operations, stating that they can now produce up to 225 dental appliances daily. This capability significantly enhances the quality of care delivered to patients and supports clinicians in providing timely services. As the prevalence of edentulism continues to rise—affecting over 267.5 million people globally, particularly adults over 50—dental labs are increasingly adopting digital methods for denture production. In the U.S., the shift towards digital solutions has seen production rates grow from 5% in 2022 to 11% in 2024, with European labs poised to follow suit as they adapt to meet the surging demand from an aging population.
Stratasys' commitment to innovation in dental technology not only positions the company to capitalize on the expanding market but also contributes to improved patient outcomes and operational efficiencies in dental practices. With over 30 customers already committed to onboarding the TrueDent solution by early 2025, Stratasys demonstrates its proactive approach in addressing the evolving needs of the dental industry in Europe.
