Stratasys Expands Digital Denture Solutions in Europe with CE Mark Certification
Stratasys (NASDAQ: SSYS) marks a significant milestone with the European launch of its TrueDent-D™ resin, now recognized as a CE Mark Class I medical device. This certification enables the distribution of the innovative TrueDent™ monolithic multi-shade digital denture solution in countries that require CE marking. Following its successful introduction in the U.S. earlier this year, the TrueDent solution aims to revolutionize denture manufacturing by improving both efficiency and quality for dental laboratories and practitioners across Europe.
The TrueDent digital workflow offers a fully integrated approach, allowing dental labs to create customized dentures at a dramatically reduced cost—estimated to be less than half of the traditional methods. This efficiency is complemented by the capabilities of the Stratasys J5 DentaJet™ printer, which can produce over 30 full monolithic, multi-shade dentures in a single print job. Notably, the system's unique ability to print duplicate dentures at the touch of a button facilitates quick access to backups for patients, a feature that sets it apart in the industry. This innovation not only streamlines production but also opens up new business models without incurring additional costs or labor, thereby enhancing operational effectiveness.
With over 30 customers already committed to adopting the TrueDent solution by the first quarter of 2025, Stratasys is strategically positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for dentures in Europe. According to iData, the market for dentures is projected to increase from USD 2.19 billion in 2023 to USD 2.45 billion by 2028. As more dental labs transition to digital production methods—reflecting a trend that has seen U.S. labs increase their digital denture production from 5% in 2022 to 11% in 2024—European counterparts are likely to follow suit to meet the rising patient demands effectively. This transition is particularly important given that edentulism affects over 267.5 million people globally, with a notable prevalence among adults over 50.
In the wake of this development, dental professionals like Tra’ Chambers, owner of Express Dental Laboratories, express optimism about the impact of TrueDent on their operations. Chambers reports that their facility can now produce up to 225 dental appliances daily, significantly enhancing the quality of care provided to both patients and clinicians. As Stratasys continues to innovate within the dental industry, the TrueDent solution stands as a testament to the company's commitment to advancing digital technology in healthcare.
