Stratasys Reinforces Its Role in NASCAR with Extended Partnership
Stratasys Ltd. solidifies its longstanding collaboration with Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) through a five-year extension, emphasizing its position as a pivotal player in the realm of additive manufacturing within the competitive landscape of NASCAR. This partnership, which spans over two decades, continues to harness the innovative potential of Stratasys' advanced 3D printing technologies. As the newly appointed “Official 3D Printing Partner of NASCAR,” Stratasys is set to influence not only JGR's operations but the entire NASCAR ecosystem. The collaboration underscores the importance of rapid prototyping and custom part production, equipping teams with the tools necessary to enhance performance and maintain a competitive edge.
Mark Bringle, Managing Director of Technical Partnerships at JGR, articulates the significance of Stratasys’ contributions, highlighting how their advanced 3D printing solutions are integral to accelerating part production and testing processes. Over the years, Stratasys’ Fortus 450mc™ and F370®CR printers, which utilize high-performance materials like Nylon-CF10, have enabled JGR to innovate and refine their designs continuously. This strategic use of additive manufacturing allows for quicker iterations, leading to improved performance on the racetrack. Stratasys’ Chief Commercial Business Officer, Rich Garrity, echoes this sentiment, noting that the collaboration pushes the boundaries of motor racing performance, ensuring that both JGR and Stratasys remain at the forefront of innovation.
In addition to the partnership with JGR, Stratasys has announced an expanded technical partnership with NASCAR, further entrenching its role in the motorsport industry. This agreement introduces a new advanced 3D printing lab to be established at the NASCAR Research & Development Center in Concord, North Carolina. This facility will be equipped with multiple Stratasys technologies, including F370, 450mc, F900, and NEO800, and aims to enhance research, development, and tooling processes for NASCAR's national series. John Probst, NASCAR’s Executive Vice President and Chief Racing Development Officer, emphasizes that this collaboration will enable rapid design cycles and on-demand production, leading to improved performance and safety across the board.
Stratasys is not only enhancing its own technological capabilities but is also significantly impacting the NASCAR industry by integrating 3D printing into everyday vehicle design. The practical applications of this technology are evident, as every vehicle in the NASCAR Cup Series currently utilizes 3D printed parts. Collaborations such as the production of a cold air inlet vent using plant-based Nylon11 and a NACA duct crafted from ULTEM® 9085 black material exemplify the innovative spirit that drives both Stratasys and NASCAR forward.
Through these partnerships, Stratasys not only demonstrates the transformative potential of 3D printing in motorsports but also cements its role as an essential contributor to the future of additive manufacturing across various industries. This strategic alignment with NASCAR and JGR allows Stratasys to continue exploring new innovations, ensuring that both entities maintain a competitive advantage in an ever-evolving market.
