PI Industries Expands Global Footprint Through Acquisition of Plant Health Care

PI Industries Ltd. (PI) strengthens its position in the agricultural sector with the acquisition of Plant Health Care Plc (PHC), which is rebranded as PI AgSciences. This strategic move significantly enhances PI's capabilities in biological and sustainable crop solutions, aligning with the company’s commitment to innovation and environmental sustainability. With a revenue stream of approximately US$ 1 billion, PI has a rich history of over 80 years in advancing agricultural practices, including crop protection and biologicals, and operates in more than 40 countries. The integration of PHC allows PI to leverage its established biologicals technology platform, which is anticipated to enrich the newly formed PI AgSciences' portfolio and accelerate its innovation pipeline.

The establishment of a global office for PI AgSciences in St. Louis, Missouri, is a strategic decision aimed at tapping into the region's robust agricultural innovation ecosystem. This new center of operations will complement PI's existing regional activities in Brazil, Mexico, the U.K., and Spain, as well as its biologicals R&D facility in Seattle, Washington. The company employs over 4,000 individuals worldwide and boasts a world-class research and development ecosystem, comprising more than 700 scientists dedicated to advancing agricultural solutions. By consolidating its operations and augmenting its research capabilities, PI is well-positioned to respond to the growing demand for effective and sustainable agricultural practices.

PI Industries’ Vice Chairperson and Managing Director, Mayank Singhal, emphasizes the company’s commitment to fostering a healthier planet through significant investments in their biologicals platform. Jagresh Rana, CEO of PI AgSciences, echoes this sentiment, focusing on the development of competitive agricultural solutions that deliver tangible value to growers. With this acquisition and the subsequent rebranding, PI not only broadens its technological expertise but also reinforces its dedication to sustainability and innovation in agriculture, ensuring that PI AgSciences emerges as a key player in the global market.

In addition to the acquisition, PI Industries is recognized among the top five global AgChem custom synthesis and manufacturing entities, highlighting its significant role in the agricultural value chain. The company’s consistent presence in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook for two consecutive years underscores its reputation as a leader in sustainable practices within the industry. As PI AgSciences sets forth with its new initiatives, it aims to deliver comprehensive solutions to meet the evolving needs of growers worldwide.
