CoDiagnostics Strengthens Influenza Testing Amid Rising Health Concerns

CoDiagnostics, Inc. (Nasdaq: CODX) recently announces pivotal developments in its diagnostic testing capabilities, particularly regarding its Logix Smart® ABC test, which detects influenza A, influenza B, and COVID-19. On December 17, 2025, the company confirms through an in silico analysis that the Co-Primers® used in their test exhibit significant homology against 3,900 influenza sequences. This finding is critical as it ensures the test maintains comparable reactivity to the influenza A H3N2 subclade K. Given the World Health Organization's estimate of 3-5 million severe influenza cases annually, leading to 290,000-650,000 deaths, the implications for public health are substantial, especially as the flu vaccine is mismatched with this emerging subclade.

This year, health officials express heightened concerns due to the limited natural immunity against subclade K, which has been associated with early flu seasons in several countries, including Japan and the UK. The record flu season reported in Australia further underscores the urgency for effective diagnostic tools. CEO Dwight Egan emphasizes the Logix Smart ABC test's robust sensitivity, established over five years ago on CoDiagnostics' proprietary platform. This dedication to high-quality PCR testing solutions positions the company as a key player in addressing the challenges posed by viral infections, particularly during peak influenza seasons.

The Logix Smart ABC test received CE-marking in November 2020, enabling simultaneous detection of influenza A, influenza B, and SARS-CoV-2. The test specifically targets the MP gene of influenza A, with mutations from subclade K occurring in the HA region, indicating no anticipated reduction in test sensitivity. While the test is not FDA approved or cleared and is intended for export only, its ongoing development reflects CoDiagnostics' commitment to maintaining diagnostic accuracy, even as new strains emerge. Furthermore, the company has initiated clinical testing for its Co-Dx PCR Flu A/B, COVID-19, and RSV point-of-care multiplex test, which is currently seeking FDA 510(k) clearance.

In addition to its advancements in influenza diagnostics, CoDiagnostics' joint venture, CoSara Diagnostics Pvt. Ltd., participates in the 2nd Advanced TB Diagnostics Course in Chennai, India. This workshop, held from December 15-19, 2025, aims to enhance tuberculosis detection and research in the South-East Asian Region. The event features discussions on new diagnostic technologies and evidence-based policy development, underscoring CoDiagnostics' commitment to addressing significant public health challenges globally.

CoDiagnostics continues to advance its proprietary technologies, developing tests based on nucleic acid detection. The company is also working on its Co-Dx PCR at-home and point-of-care platform, which aims to identify genetic markers across various applications. While still undergoing regulatory review, this initiative signals CoDiagnostics' broader ambition to enhance healthcare outcomes beyond infectious diseases.
