Altair Strengthens HPC and Cloud Solutions with Latest Upgrades

Altair, a leader in computational intelligence, enhances its high-performance computing (HPC) and cloud platform, Altair® HPCWorks®, with significant upgrades as of February 5, 2025. These advancements introduce new tools and features that expand cloud scalability for both Altair and third-party workload managers, integrating sophisticated monitoring and reporting capabilities. The upgraded platform notably incorporates AI-enabled job scheduling and visualization, which supports GPUs, Kubernetes, and machine learning workflows. Sam Mahalingam, Altair's Chief Technology Officer, asserts that these improvements solidify Altair’s position as a premier solutions provider in the HPC and cloud sectors, enabling customers to stay at the forefront of computational intelligence in today’s data-centric and AI-driven environment.

The enhanced Altair HPCWorks now operates under the Altair Units licensing system, which offers flexible and dynamic licensing options. This system allows enterprises to seamlessly connect their HPCWorks platform with the Altair One® gateway, facilitating the management of on-premises clusters while granting access to Altair's extensive suite of simulation, HPC, and data analytics tools. By optimizing cloud resource access, the new solutions empower users to operate efficiently in the cloud and manage hybrid computing environments, thereby addressing peak-time workloads without exceeding budget constraints. Altair’s commitment to providing a robust and versatile HPC and cloud platform underscores its mission to foster technological advancement and excellence in computational intelligence.

In addition to these upgrades, Altair announces the integration of Meridian Flight Systems into its Aerospace Startup Acceleration Program (ASAP) on February 6, 2025. This partnership aims to leverage Altair's simulation, data analytics, and HPC software to advance Meridian's Corra unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and the Hybrid Electric Range-Extending Microturbine Energy System (HERMES). Pietro Cervellera, senior vice president of aerospace and defense at Altair, expresses enthusiasm about this collaboration, emphasizing the potential for innovation in heavy-lift UAV technology.

The strategic alliance with Meridian underscores the importance of partnerships in driving advancements within the UAV and hybrid power sectors. Saïf-Deen Akanni, CEO and CTO of Meridian, highlights that access to Altair's advanced software and technical support will be instrumental in refining the design and performance of their UAV and power systems, enabling a faster transition from concept to certification. This initiative marks a pivotal step in both companies' missions to innovate and excel in their respective fields.
